FROM THE SECOND WEEK OF JULY

The second week of July

Happy July 4th, my friends! As the fireworks explode up, up, up in the sky – I hope you take a moment to reflect on where you are and what you’ve done so far this year. Maybe you’ve accomplished so much, you’re ready to nap away the second half of the year. Maybe you’re still tossing around a bunch of ideas in your head and you haven’t done much in the past 6-months. Whatever it is – wherever you are – know that that is okay. It’s never to late to get started – and the summer time sunshine is sometimes the best way to push you toward making a dent in that New Year’s Resolution of yours!

1. A beach read that you won’t be able to put down…

I’m currently reading “ The Vacationers” by Emma Straub and it’s the kind of book you can oddly relate to. I have such separation anxiety with it – that I brought it with me to the gym and to a dinner party with me (so i could sneak away and read it).

2. Like a Girl…

This video makes me pretty darn happy to do things “Like a girl..”

3.  Is your Inbox super congested?

I saw someone post this site – Unroll Me – on Facebook the other day and I clicked on it. I was able to unsubscribe from over 100 different newsletters that used to crowd my personal inbox.

4. Craigslist Professional Bridesmaid ( That’s Me!)

Read more about why I wrote this ad and what happened after I posted it.

5.  Need some good music tunes for the summer?

I recommend the “Today’s Hits” playlist on Pandora or jamming to anything on Fratmusic.com

6. Meet the Seinfeld writer who made you laugh

A great article from NY Mag about how Seinfeld got some of it’s most classic lines.

7. Modern Love

Is one of my most favorite sections to read in the NY Times every single week. The stories told through the eyes of a different person every week are often powerful and thought provoking. I hope you enjoy it!

Hi! I’m Jen Glantz.

I wish we could high-five, even hug hello in person – and maybe someday soon we’ll have that chance. But until then, welcome to my website. It’s my most favorite place in the world (beside home, Forever21, and the library – of course). I hope you’ll click around a bit – and read something you like. And if you do, come back again! Or better yet, click the subscribe button – on the top right – and i’ll send you an email on Monday Mornings with tips and fun articles to help kick your butt out of bed.

I’m Jen Glantz. I’ve been a published writer for over 13 years, spilling my words into magazines (ranging from style to scuba diving), newspapers, websites and even this one time, a speech, for someone who didn’t speak a word of English. What drives my words, my site, my writing, is the power of relating to people. I find that many people, especially young girls, feel so alone and quite often they feel embarrassed. I want to shatter those feelings! I want them to read what I write and understand that it’s okay to be a little outside of the box, but most importantly, that it is okay to just be who they are.
