The truth is, when someone touches your heart, they will infinitely be there. No matter what you do, you can’t stop loving them.
You don’t want these labels: The one looking to fill a void. The one who’s living in the past. The one stuck in a love purgatory. Because this pain is only a part of you; but the part that you need to fight every time someone tries to get close to you nevertheless.
So you try to fight it, but it’s still alive and well, comfortable in its home in your bones. You can feel it every day, a tiny inkling that causes breathtaking emotional pain at the most inconvenient of times.
Your heart doesn’t care about how many people you meet, how beautiful they are, or how amazing. It’s not the same. They’re just not…
Because when you know, you just know. That thing, that indefinable, magic thing just won’t let go of you. And maybe you don’t even want it to let you go.
Not that you have a choice; this person is in your veins and you can’t get them out.
The truth is, you can meet the love of your life at the wrong time. Sometimes, life has other plans for you. Sometimes two people have habits or beliefs that make it impossible to be together, no matter how much they love each other.
Some people are not ready when you meet them. Not yet. People’s past, demons, whatever it is, they need to first prove something to themselves.
Some people won’t understand this and think, “the people we meet at the wrong time are actually just the wrong people” or “you never meet the right people at the wrong time because the right people are timeless.”
But I beg to disagree, and would counter with, some people are not simple. Some love isn’t simple – it’s okay if it is, as long as you understand that for some, the path of true love is not easy. The right people are timeless, but what makes them timeless is your eternal love for them, and theirs for you. They make your soul alive, and that is timeless.
The truth is, we don’t pass the love of our life up because the timing is wrong, we simply admit to ourselves that sometimes, love is not enough.
Sometimes we meet the right people at the wrong time, and no matter how badly we want it, at that moment in our life the differences are just too big, and there’s is no logical solution to working them out.
We might need time to forgive and forget. We might need time to heal, grow, learn, live, chase our dreams, tackle our issues, and evolve. We might need time to first fall in love with ourselves. We might need the time to do this all alone.
Your friends think you’re crazy, you feel crazy yourself. Why, in a world full of billions, are you allowing one to keep holding you back? You can’t answer that.
“The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing.” — Blaise Pascal
Maybe, your heart can’t let go for a reason. If a lot of time has passed, and you still can’t let go, maybe your heart knows that the relationship is unfinished.
This isn’t logical. But logic has nothing to do with it. Love is not rational. And in some crazy way, our heart knows better.
Our heart knows that one day, we will be with our person. Somehow, in some way.
