FROM THE LAST WEEK OF APRIL (HI MAY!)

1. Sitting for long hours at work is the NEW smoking

Okay – maybe that’s a little drastic. But check this article – it’ll surely have you more conscious about pausing from sorting through emails and go for a walk or do jumping jacks every couple of hours.

2. “Doing what you love does not mean doing it perfectly.” – @CaseyNeistat

Because not knowing how to do something is hardly a reason not to do it. Inspirational advice from YouTube film maker Casey Neistat.

3. Need some motivation to get your butt off the couch?

I’ve been using this app called Couch to 5K for the last three weeks – as an excuse to spend more time outside and also to try, very hard, to start enjoying running.

I’ve never been very good at running (some may argue that no one is “good” at running – but if running was a pass/fail class in school – i’d fail, big time) and the most i can run without feeling like i’m going to pass out is probably a little under a mile.

4. Ever wonder what goes on inside a guys brain when he thinks about love?

I do – all the time. That’s why i rounded up 10 guys (some strangers – some more than strangers) and asked them to tell me about the #1 piece of advice that they learned from their moms about love and relationships. Here’s the delightful outcome

5. This, my friends, is what heartbreak looks like

(In the digital age)

6.  My favorite part of reading is…

Highlighting the gorgeous passages and words and quotes that my eyes can’t stop flirting with. Here’s a list of the most highlighted passages of all time!

7. “We are all stars of circumstance”

Last Friday, i got the rare and beautiful opportunity to spend some one-on-one time with B.J. Novak – the guy who wrote/acted in The Office and also just put out his first book called One More Thing. I raved about it last week and when i got to meet him in person – i tried to pick his brain about writing and fame and how the heck his mind things of this chaotic plot lines that have us hooked for pages and episodes.

Ps. To all the new graduates out there – here’s a gigantic congrats! Here’s also some advice to toss inside your cap for when people start nagging you about “What’s next?”

Hi – I’m Jen Glantz! It’s really nice to e-meet you.

I wish we could high-five, even hug hello in person – and maybe someday soon we’ll have that chance. But until then, welcome to my website. It’s my most favorite place in the world (beside home, Forever21, and the library – of course). I hope you’ll click around a bit – and read something you like. And if you do, come back again! Or better yet, click the subscribe button – on the top right – and i’ll send you an email on Monday Mornings with tips and fun articles to help kick your butt out of bed.

I’m Jen Glantz. I’ve been a published writer for over 13 years, spilling my words into magazines (ranging from style to scuba diving), newspapers, websites and even this one time, a speech, for someone who didn’t speak a word of English. What drives my words, my site, my writing, is the power of relating to people. I find that many people, especially young girls, feel so alone and quite often they feel embarrassed. I want to shatter those feelings! I want them to read what I write and understand that it’s okay to be a little outside of the box, but most importantly, that it is okay to just be who they are.
