FROM THE THIRD WEEK OF APRIL

Here’s a round up of my favorite things from the third week of April! Check back every Friday for a new list of 7 things that have helped me get through the week. [Read something you loved, loved, loved this week? 1. I’ve had trouble sleeping…

(I think it’s because I don’t know where to find the off button on my swirling brain) – so to help, right before i go to sleep, i turn off my phone, my TV, my computer and pick this book up.

I read a chapter, or a few lines, just until my eyes begin to flutter.

It’s a nice read for some life motivation – or just to wish yourself sweet, positive, dreams. (STAY AWAY, NIGHTMARES!)

2. Modern day etiquette

Follow these 27 rules if you want to act respectful when you’re around family, friends, and even strangers.

3. Thursday was National Poem in Pocket Day

Though, probably, not as popular as National stuff yourself with pizza or National eat as many donuts as you can day, it’s one of my most favorite. I often write Tiny Poems – like the poem below. Here’s a list of my top 3 favorite poems.

4. It’s Friday – what better way to celebrate than by hugging a stranger?

Or the person next to you. Or someone you’re friends with. Or yourself? Here’s 6 reasons why we should all hug more.

5. Growing up can be fun – sometimes –

But mostly, growing up can be real scary.

As if life is literally slapping you in the face when you attempt to things you used to do so easily. Here’s 15 signs you’re becoming a “grown up”.

6. “I wanted the whole world – or nothing”

That’s one of my favorite quotes by Charles Bukowski. I recently read his book “Post Office” – which i recommend, only, if you want to be a bit sad about working a 9-5 job.

But that quote describes my no-settling – never giving – working way too hard – attitude.

7. Me…in a music video?!

Last weekend, i was hanging in Washington Square Park with my pal Allison, when she pushed me in front of a camera and said to the guy behind it, “She’ll do it”. Well the “it” turned out to be singing a line of a Miley Cyrus song in this video.

I’m Jen Glantz. I’ve been a published writer for over 13 years, spilling my words into magazines (ranging from style to scuba diving), newspapers, websites and even this one time, a speech, for someone who didn’t speak a word of English. What drives my words, my site, my writing, is the power of relating to people. I find that many people, especially young girls, feel so alone and quite often they feel embarrassed. I want to shatter those feelings! I want them to read what I write and understand that it’s okay to be a little outside of the box, but most importantly, that it is okay to just be who they are.
