FROM HOW TO FIND THE PERFECT MOTHER’S DAY GIFT

How do you even begin picking out a gift for the woman in your life who means more to you than anything else? I’m talking about your momma, and even though it’s important to appreciate her every single day of the year (remember, she’s the one who carried you in her stomach for 9-months and then – most likely – carried you through a lot of struggles and awkward childhood moments for the first 18 or so years of your life), Mother’s Day is an added bonus of an opportunity to show her how much you care.

Want to avoid the last minute gift shopping down the aisles of CVS or ordering two dozen roses off 1-800-flowers that’ll cost you as much as your electric bill for that month? Here are three of my top suggestions for Mother’s Day gifts this year.

1. Make it Personal

Writing mom a card or a letter is always a great start. But pair that with something like an engraved piece of jewelry. A bracelet, a ring, a sharp pair of earnings that’ll she will never want to take off. Need a place to get this made? Check some options out here.

2. Buy It Off Her Wish-List

You know that list. The one your mom fills with things she wants – things are nice to have – but that she doesn’t “really” need. These are the kinds of things that make her eyes sparkle. These are the kinds of things she won’t buy because she’s saving up to buy you something special. Spoil here with some of these things.

3. Things She’s Never Seen Before

The kinds of gadgets and items that’ll make her life easier – or simply put, just a lot more fun. Buy her the kind of gift she’s never heard of before but will help her relax after a long day at work or a long  Saturday afternoon with you in the dressing room of Forever21. Here are some of my favorites.

To help kickstart your Mother’s Day shopping,  I teamed up with Uncommon Goods, a privately-owned retailer that endeavors to feature unique designs and handcrafted gifts created in harmony with the environment and without harm to animals or people, to help make your gift selection process a whole lot easier. I’m Jen Glantz. I’ve been a published writer for over 13 years, spilling my words into magazines (ranging from style to scuba diving), newspapers, websites and even this one time, a speech, for someone who didn’t speak a word of English. What drives my words, my site, my writing, is the power of relating to people. I find that many people, especially young girls, feel so alone and quite often they feel embarrassed. I want to shatter those feelings! I want them to read what I write and understand that it’s okay to be a little outside of the box, but most importantly, that it is okay to just be who they are.
